Sandbag resources now available

In an effort to support residents experiencing high water issues the Town of Gravenhurst has placed sandbag resources at two locations in the community. 

A limited supply of filled sandbags are available at each site. Additionally, at each location the town has placed sand and empty bags that people can fill.

The locations are as follows: 

  • Severn River Road East (at the turnaround). 

  • Sunshine Court (at the turnaround).

Request for road maintenance agreement

Tony Romanelli made a presentation to council expressing an interest in entering into a road maintenance agreement with the town.

Mayor Heidi Lorenz thanked Romanelli for the presentation and said the matter would be referred to staff for review.

MNRF issues Water Safety Bulletin and Flood Watch

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District is advising area residents that a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety Bulletin is in effect for the Black, Burnt, Gull and Magnetawan River Watersheds.

As well, a Flood Watch is in effect for the Muskoka River Watershed and the Severn River Watershed.

These messages will remain in effect until Friday, April 26, 2024.

Contractor announcement signals progress for 'Bay and Beyond' project in Gravenhurst

New short-term rental map online

The Town of Gravenhurst has launched an online map showing the location of current licensed short-term rental (STR) properties in Gravenhurst.

The searchable map is on the town website.

A red border outlines each legal STR property on the map. 

The public can click on a specific property to learn its address.

All Gravenhurst properties used as short-term rentals, as defined by the by-law, must have an annual licence.
