Half-load restrictions start March 4

The Town of Gravenhurst is implementing half-load restrictions starting March 4. 

During the annual spring thaw period, typically early March to mid to late May, municipalities in the District of Muskoka place ‘half-load’ or ‘reduced/seasonal load’ restrictions on most roadways.

Drum roll, please!

The results are in. The Town of Gravenhurst’s ‘Name the Plow’ contest determined the following names for two new snowplows: Clearopathra and Betty Whiteout.

“These names are playful and fun – two qualities that are reflective of our great community,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said. “We look forward to seeing Clearopathra and Betty Whiteout on Gravenhurst roads.”

Pinetree Road Bridge rehabilitation project starting

The Pinetree Road Bridge rehabilitation project will take place Feb. 19 to Feb. 23.

The construction area is from 75 Pinetree Road to 76 Pinetree Road.

There will be no vehicular access over the bridge between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

All efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience and disruption during the project.

Meetings return to the council chambers

Mayor Heidi Lorenz opened the meeting by welcoming everyone back to the council chambers following a renovation of the space.

Part of the work included the installation of a new audio/visual system, allowing for an improved in-person and online meeting experience.

Mayor Lorenz thanked everyone who played a role in the project.
